2017 was a blast. The highlight for me has to be winning two awards at the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Competition in Memphis. That led to some great shows: The Legendary Blues Cruise, The Daytona Blues Fest, The Hot Springs Blues Fest, and The Heritage Blues Fest in Wheeling, WV.
I also picked up the Kenlake Hot August Blues Fest in Western Kentucky by virtue of being seen in the finals (thanks Lew!), and the Carolina Downhome Fest in Camden, SC was a great three-day stopover on my way to Daytona (thanks Shrimp City Slim!).
With Bettye Lavette, we played the East Coast, West Coast, Texas, Southwest, Midwest, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Germany…among the highlights were the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, and two Nashville shows: Americana Fest and the Ryman Auditorium, opening for Jason Isbell.
Thanks to all who came to my regular Tuesday afternoons at Bourbon Street Blues & Boogie Bar in Printers Alley!
Thanks to all the good folks who support rhythm & blues, and live music of every kind. I have no plans to stop and want to see you all in 2018.
Happy New Year!
